All frames come with a one year warranty.   Stock varies at each Virginia Eye Optical office, however, all brands are available.

Frame Materials

  • Titanium - A metal that is lightweight, durable and hypoallergenic.
  • Stainless Steel - A metal that is lightweight and hypoallergenic.
  • Zyl - A plastic frame, which now come in many different colors.
  • Flexon - A metal frame that is usually titanium and has some form of memory metals.
  • Monel - A mixture of a large range of different metals .

Lens Types

  • Single Vision - A lens that is for distance or near vision.
  • Progressive - This lens is sometimes referred to as a no-line bifocal.   It allows a person to see at all distances (near, intermediate, distance) having no line.
  • Bifocal - This lens has a segment for reading in the lower portion of the lens allowing a person to see distance and near.
  • Trifocal - This lens has two segments in the lower portion of the lens for intermediate and near vision.   This lens is similar to the progressive but has visible lines.

Lens Options

  • Scratch-resistant protection - Protection from everyday scratches.   This type of lens is not scratch proof.
  • Ultraviolet protection - Protection against ultraviolet rays that may cause cataracts.
  • Anti-reflective - A lens without reflection, allowing better light transmission.   This lens option makes night driving and computer use much easier and also makes your lenses look "invisible".
  • Photochromic - This lens darkens in the sun and lightens when you go inside.
  • Polarized - This lens takes away annoying glare.   This option is great for driving, fishing, golfing, sports, and everyday use.

Lens Materials

  • Cr-39 (hard resin plastic) - This material weighs much less than glass lenses.   Lower prescriptions are usually provided by this lens.   This material is available in all lens types and with all lens options.
  • Polycarbonate - This material is light weight and thin, and is the most impact-resistant material on the market.   All children under 18 are provided this lens.   It is also used for higher prescriptions.
  • High Index - This is a thinner lens used for higher prescriptions.

Ordering Eyeglasses

You must be present to order eyeglasses.   There are precise measurements that must be taken for a proper fit.   Orders usually take 7 to 10 working days to fill.
