Fons Teijssen lives in Belgium and has drawn and painted all his life, tried all kinds of techniques and ultimately watercolor has become the language he uses to talk about the world around him. He paints watercolor with lots of water and pigments, wet in wet, building layer upon layer. All subjects appear in his works: city views, landscapes, figures and portraits, still lifes,chance encounters, etc. He also does not avoid current events: pleasure and sadness, events that affect him, war and peace, people on the run, etc. His works have been exhibited in several places in Belgium, but also in the Netherlands, France, Poland…He was invited to the prestigious Boardwalk Art Show in Virginia Beach, USA, and was selected several times to participate in the Watercolor Happening in Bruges, IWS (the International Watercolor Society). In 2024, he participated in Vietnam in Acquarello at the Temple of Literature in Saigon.His many visits in Virginia haven been an inspiration for new watercolors. He fell in love with the changing landscapes, the fascinating cities and communities. Virginia has become his second home.
