The Tuckahoe Artists Association was founded in 1971.

Originally, membership was drawn from the Tuckahoe Woman’s Club located in the west end of Richmond, Virginia. Currently, the organization has about 55 members including active, associate and honorary members. Membership is drawn from diverse sources in the metropolitan area and consists of established professional artists, as well as aspiring new ones.

The purpose of the organization is to stimulate interest in the fine arts.

In order to achieve its purpose, the association has four meetings a year. Guest artists make presentations regarding their work and special techniques or give demonstrations, lessons or critiques of member works. A spring trip to art museums of interest is sponsored as well.

Members work is exhibited six to eight times a year at various venues in the Richmond area. One judged exhibit is held each year with local Richmond professional artists or gallery owners serving as judges.
