Dr. Higgins is a highly skilled and compassionate ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and externa disease. She was born in Nebraska and raised in Tennessee, where she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of community and helping others.
Higgins receive her Doctorate of Medicine at Saint Louis University in Missouri where she graduated with several honors, including being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. After completing her residency at the University of Virginia, she pursued a fellowship in cornea and external disease at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
She has a special interest in cornea transplant, cornea refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and ocular surface disease. Throughout her training she has participated in community and global outreach programs – most recently on a medical brigade to Honduras. In her free time, Dr. Higgins taking nature walks with her puppy and her husband.
