Tim Nguyen (pronounced ‘Win’), M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, laser, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Dr. Nguyen cares for patients with a wide variety of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and astigmatism. His passion is using his skills and the latest technology to provide patients with exceptional vision, allowing them to do the things they most value and love in life.
Dr. Nguyen attended Virginia Tech where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree, Magna cum laude. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) where he was the first medical student in the school’s history to match into an ophthalmology residency, a highly sought-after specialty. Over the years, Dr. Nguyen has mentored numerous medical students at VTCSOM pursuing ophthalmology. Dr. Nguyen completed his residency at the University of Florida (UF) located in Gainesville, Florida. During this time Dr. Nguyen also trained at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station (NAS) for refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK) where hundreds of military personnel from up and down the east coast of the US come to have refractive surgery performed every year.
During his free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys weight-lifting, fishing, cycling, and spending time with his wife Erin and son Matteo.
