Byron Ladd, M.D attended Indiana University and received an Honors Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry, graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. After receiving a Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University and selection to Alpha Omega Alpha, he completed an ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at The Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. While training at Wilmer, Dr. Ladd received the W. Richard Green Teaching Award and the American College of Eye Surgeons Bloomberg Award. He also practiced and lectured as part of the Johns Hopkins International Medical Team in the United Arab Emirates.
As a partner of the Virginia Eye Institute, Dr. Ladd has served as the President, ASC Medical Director, Marketing Chairman and member of the Executive Committee. He has been the President of the local chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and received national recognition with their prestigious Visionary Award. Dr. Ladd is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, VitBuckle Society and Club Vit. He continues to serve as an investigator in numerous Phase III clinical trials and lectures nationally on the management of retinal diseases.
