Joshua Hardin, M.D. specializes in the medical, laser, and surgical treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. He also provides general eye care and screening exams for diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, common eye diseases, and ocular emergencies. He offers a broad range of services including routine and complex cataract surgery, premium intraocular lens implants, glaucoma filtering surgeries including trabeculectomy and tube shunts, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries including canaloplasty, goniotomy, hydrus and istent. Additionally, he offers laser procedures including cyclophotocoagulation, selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser peripheral iridotomy, and YAG capsulotomy.
Dr. Hardin completed his undergraduate education in Psychology at the University of North Texas, followed by medical school at the University of Texas. He served his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas where he was voted resident of the year. For two years, Dr. Hardin was Assistant Professor and Director of Ophthalmic Urgent Care at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he cared for patients, taught residents and students, and participated in research and academic writing. He then completed his fellowship in glaucoma at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, working with leaders in the field of glaucoma. He has authored book chapters and published many
papers in major peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals.
In his free time, Dr. Hardin enjoys spending time with his wife Olga, also a physician, and his children Katya and Luke. He enjoys traveling, hiking, and playing the violin with his daughter.
Dr. Hardin is passionate about providing sight-saving care for cataracts and glaucoma. He enjoys patient education and involving patients as team members in his approach to care.
