Early in 1989, conversations among friends who shared a love of photography crystallized into the Focus Group Camera Club. The purpose of the Club was to learn more about photography, to inspire, encourage and learn with each other.
Through the years, members have arranged field trips, locally to Virginia’s parks and historical areas, and sometimes out of state to National Parks and other special destinations. The Club has sponsored community seminars featuring nationally known professional photographers including Stephen Johnson, Freeman Patterson, John Shaw and Jim Zuckerman. In addition to lectures, the professionals take club members for a day of instruction in the field.
The Club sponsors an annual exhibition, displaying what we consider to be our best photographs of the year. Exhibitions are also hung around the Metro Richmond area throughout the year.
